I think that my be the most frivolous faucet design I’ve ever seen. Why make the process more difficult than it has to be? Give me function over form any day.

No, it’s a simple faucet to operate, as I imagine virtually any faucet is, or at least should be. I’m saying why make the process of moving water more difficult. That ceramic (or whatever it is) surround will eventually get hard water stains and be a PITA to clean.
Not to mention that it looks like you couldn’t get a nice hard water flow out of this faucet, since there’s no aerator. And even if this does have an aerator, it’s negated by the extra step the water has to take to get to you
If you ever need to fix or do maintenance on a typical faucet, you can easily do so. I imagine this faucet, from a maintenance standpoint, is considerably more difficult to work on.
